Single Girder Hoist

Single Girder Hoist — photo 1

A single girder hoist hangs from the lower flange of a single steel beam and travels along it. It serves as the lifting unit in single girder overhead cranes, single girder gantry cranes and monorail systems. Unlike a double girder hoist, which runs on top of two girders, its whole structure hangs beneath one beam. The hoist is available in several configurations to suit the structure and track: Standard headroom: the hoist body, including drum and motor, hangs below the travel trolley. Simple construction and easy to maintain, but with a larger distance between beam and hook. Low headroom: the hoist body sits alongside the beam, balanced by a counterweight on the other side. The hook rises almost to the level of the beam, giving more lifting height in buildings with low ceilings. Curved track trolley: a travel trolley with swivelling joints that lets the hoist run on monorail tracks with curves. On hoists with a double-grooved drum, the hook rises and lowers in a vertical line, without drifting sideways as the rope winds onto the drum. This matters where the load must be placed at an exact point. The trolley width is set to the beam flange, and end stops on the beam limit its travel. The model table lists the lifting capacity, lifting height, headroom, speeds and flange width range for each model.
